Our Solar Project Begins

We’re pleased to share an exciting milestone in our sustainability journey as work officially begins on our new solar panel project.

Over the coming weeks, guests and visitors may notice some additional activity around the restaurant beginning with the erection of scaffolding ahead of the solar panel installation. While there may be some visible works taking place, we’ll be working closely with everyone involved in the project to keep any disruption to our guests to an absolute minimum.

A long-term investment in sustainability

Set within the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside, we’re very conscious of the environment around us and the responsibility we have to protect it. Sustainability is an important part of our plans for the future, and our investment in solar energy represents another significant step towards reducing our environmental impact and operating the park in a more responsible and energy-efficient way.

Once installed, the new solar panels will allow us to generate more of our own renewable electricity on site, reducing our reliance on energy from the grid and helping us to lower the carbon footprint associated with the day-to-day running of the park.

Importantly, this isn’t about one single project. We see sustainability as an ongoing commitment and something that should be considered as we continue to invest in and develop the park for the future.

Building on the changes we’ve already made

Our solar project isn’t the beginning of our sustainability journey. Over recent years, we’ve been looking carefully at the way we operate and identifying areas where we can make meaningful changes to reduce waste, use resources more responsibly and lessen our environmental impact.

One of the biggest changes has been our move towards more digital ways of working, helping us significantly reduce our reliance on printed materials and our overall paper footprint. From communications to everyday processes behind the scenes, going digital has allowed us to become both more efficient and more environmentally conscious.

Waste management has also been an important focus. We work with Biffa to support the responsible recycling of waste generated across the park, helping us divert recyclable materials away from general waste wherever possible.

We’ve also partnered with ReFood for our food waste recycling. Rather than food waste simply entering the general waste stream, it is collected separately and recycled, giving us a much more responsible way of managing the food waste produced through our operations.

We’ve also introduced EV charging facilities on site, supporting the growing number of guests and visitors choosing to travel by electric vehicle and making it easier for them to charge during their time with us.

Each of these changes may represent a different part of our operation, but together they contribute towards the same goal: making thoughtful improvements that help us operate more sustainably.

Making positive changes behind the scenes

Many of the improvements we make aren’t necessarily the things guests will immediately notice during a stay, but they play an important role in ensuring we can continue to offer the experience our guests know and love while making more considered choices behind the scenes.

The solar project is one of those investments.

It allows us to make better use of renewable energy, improve the efficiency of our operations and take another meaningful step towards our wider sustainability goals, all while preserving the character, tranquility and natural surroundings that make the park such a special place to visit.

What to expect during the installation

Work will begin with scaffolding being erected in preparation for the installation of the solar panels.

There will naturally be some additional activity on site while the project is underway, and certain areas may look a little different temporarily. We’ll be doing everything possible to minimise disruption and ensure our guests can continue to relax and enjoy their time with us.
